Aromatherapy Massage is a massage technique that involves the use of the essential oils. The skin is a highly sensitive organ that can rapidly absorb the oils and allows the healing to take place. By massaging with these oils, aching muscles are relieved, which helps you to relax and therefore relieves stress and brings on a sense of wellbeing. This treatment aids in the draining of the lymphatic system and detoxifies the body.

Essential oils – These oils have different healing properties that can be used for specific purposes. Through massage your skin is absorbing the oils and by using burners or by smelling the oils you are receiving their healing properties through the olfactory nerves. There are many different kinds of oils, all of which have there own healing properties and it is quite a study to learn about them. Here are two examples of the most common oils:

 

  • Lavender is one of the most common essential oils and is an excellent relaxant. It relieves headaches and insomnia. If applied to a burn immediately, it will not even blister.
  • Ti-tree is another common essential oil, which is excellent for colds and flu. It works wonders on any fungal infections, i.e. Athletes foot and dandruff. It is anti-bacterial and anti-septic so it is a good idea to have a bottle of ti-tree in every home.
